 City of IRVINE Orange County, California To HONOR those who have been injured or killed To RAISE AWARENESS that we are here To ask that we all SHARE THE ROAD   Date: Wednesday, May 18, 2011 I had 6:30 in my head and no one let me know I was leading out early! We had a great turn out by 6:30 ~ but many came for the 7pm start as announced. I hate missing a start - so I am really sorry we were rolling out or gone when those of you arrived. Sincerely, Bill Sellin Time: 6:30-8:30pm (Gather at 6 - Ride at 7 pm) Where: Irvine Civic Center In IRVINE - Orange County - California Route: Flat 9.7 mile loop around Irvine; on-street bike lanes and off street bike way: Repeat of the 2006~2009 route run East on Alton with regroup then return on the San Diego Creek bike way so we can be fully regrouped by the time we get back to the start. Time we will join other communities across the planet in
having at the flag poles in front of the Police Department then cue up for a 7 pm slow paced, single file, silent commemoration to the riders who are no longer with us, especially those who were disabled or killed on the road. Come over after work - there are facilities to change clothes for he ride. we hope to share this hour with each other, and know thousands across the planet will also have marked the hour; but also raise awareness among the many local motorists who will be witnesses of our parade. & have plenty of reflectors & lights... In case you don't know, California law changed and lights & reflectors are required on bike ways and sidewalks now. Please wear an arm band; Black in solidarity - or Red if you have been injured by a motorist. (Inexpensive head / wrist band sets or cut up tube socks work well...)
