has been changed this year to a single day full of celebration!

Starting with a series of club road rides from the gentle rolling hills of Turtle Rock,
and culminating in an afternoon Western Barbecue and Birthday party in
historic Bommer Canyon; Riders will enjoy a full "all you can ride" selection of rides and social event
to start off the 2004 Summer Season!

Part 1: Regular drop in Saturday Rides PLUS 3 added long distance rides from Turtle Rock Park
Part 2: Special post ride Party (pre registration required) in Bommer Canyon

The Rides (Free & open to all)
See ROUTE DETAILS of all 6 routes HERE
Park in the Turtle Rock Park Parking Lot (1 Sunnyhill)
We will assemble for the ride starts at the East end near Sunnyhill

A full 105 Century
(5 miles for @ year since 1983) will roll at 7:30am from Turtle Rock Park.
An 84 mile Long Plus (4 miles for each of our 21 years) will leave at 8am.
A 63 mile / 101 KM Metric Century (3 miles for each year) will leave at 8:30.
All 3 of the longer rides are hitting Robert Nugent's infamous
portable feast SAG stop with munchies to enjoy! ($5 please!)

A set of 42, 21 & short 21 KM ~ 13 mile Staurday Ride loops will leave at 9am.
All 3 stop at Ruby's Diner / Tully's Coffee / Champaigne French Bakery Cafe in Woodbridge
These will be the club's Saturday rides for June 19th, so don't go to Deerfield!

At the end of the ride you will be able to ride into Bommer Canyon & chill out under the trees...

The Party ($30 & pre registered for Dinner)
After you've had enough of the bike, you can coast down the canyon to your car, clean up & change in the bathrooms at Turtle Rock Park before driving back up into Bommer - we will enjoy the unique remoteness of Bommer Canyon Cattle Camp; Away from the modern urban road experience, a real step back in time to what Orange County was like even before James Irvine rode his big wheeled bone-shaker bicycle through his daddy's new land, on the way from San Francisco to San Diego over 100 years ago...
Massage Therapist Carola will be on hand to sooth sore muscles and share her healing touch...
We will have the cattle camp's barbecue pit going;
serving up a feast under the direction of Penny Poorman and Tommie Kozlov
who will try to fill the recently empty saddle of Chef & Vice President Doug Phillips
Lounge in the shade of ancient sycamores, toss a few horse shoes, play some volleyball, & cosmic wimpout will be there as always...
After dinner we will enjoy the evening breezes of dusk as we sit about a cheery camp fire
for 'somores' with dear friends, old & new

The routes are being developed now, and teams are forming up to help with hosting the support; from staffing the SAG stop, sweeping the route, grilling the chicken and serving the feast, to decorations, entertainment, and maybe even raffle prizes! If you want to ride a shorter loop then help support the century riders, or get the party ready for the longer riders as they roll in, we will have lots of chances to help out!

Mark you calendar for the the Date; Get ready to register for the Dinner;
And if you are interested in joining the team planning and hosting the event, please contact Bill!
mailto:DataBase@BikeIrvine.org or phone: 714/ 997-0921

Please register before the 2nd Monday in June (June 14) so we have enough food!
All excess proceeds do go to support the club's budget... This is a fund raiser and Membership Drive... Last year's Solstice Tour help generate as much extra revenue as the dues for 100 full memberships! Events like this are what keeps the BCI Dues so affordable...

 We have a great team assembling, but can still use help; a sweep vehicle or two with cell phones... Not critical but if a non riding spouse or friend is willing to drive - consider helping out & encouraging riders along the route! Ideas for decorations? Entertainment? Square Dancing? Interested in coordinating a Gift Raffle? Other ideas?
 For more details or to volunteer contact Bill @ 714/997-0921 or by e mail to DataBase@BikeIrvine.org!

No-form Easy Registration:
$30 per person for the Party*
The Rides will, as always for the BCI Saturday Rides, be free;
A cash donation ($5 suggested) will be accepted from any riders
who make it far enough to enjoy some of the fresh fruit,
chocolate dipped berries & munchies at the remote portable feast SAG stop!
Riders are on their own for brunch & coffee stops...
