Wanda Matjas joined
friends on Richard's November '05 tour and discovered a connection
with Guatemala.
When she came home, she put her special talents in wearable art
to great effort as a fund raiser. She created a lovely Renaissance
jacket, took it to several gatherings and events, including our
GCFR Holiday Celebration,
selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the girls in Xela.
Wanda's artistry was included in publication of
Bella Armoire, Art To Wear quarterly.
In this way, Wanda raised $700, which she brought to Guatemala
on Richard's January 07 tour and delivered to the sisters at
El Hogar de Senioritas
de Luìs Amigõ in support
of the girls.
The lucky winner of the raffle was
Jim Nilsen, who purchased his winning ticket at the GCFR
Holiday Celebration, and also traveled on Richard's November
05 tour to Guatemala. At the July 22nd Big Sponsors Bash at Richard
& Sandy's, Wanda presented the piece to Jim, who's wife Christina
was thrilled to recieve & wear the wearable art home!
