This
9-day tour begins in the colonial city La Antigua, a Unesco World
Heritage Site. The tour continues to the market town, Chichicastenango.
Later, we will spend three days touring the villages surrounding Lake
Atitlan in the Western Highlands. Throughout the tour, we will visit
women's cooperatives, where the historic craft traditions of beading,
weaving and ornate embroidery have been revived as new revenue sources
for families and communities. Many of our experiences will not be on
traditional tour paths. We will travel by foot, pick-up, tuk-tuk, boat
and bus, learning about Mayan village culture and traditional arts. August 1, 2012…but you may re-sell your space, consulting our “waiting
list,”…with approval from your roommate.
